Revs Sign Mike Videira

Told you we were hearing good things about Mike Videira’s chances of signing with the Revs.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that the club has signed midfielder Michael Videira to a Major League Soccer contract to play for the Revs. Per team and league policies, terms of the deal were not released. Videira will occupy one of the Revolution’s senior roster spots.
First, the good news. Videira’s a player… or at least he was. He was dominant on the collegiate level, and could be considered a suitable replacement for Andy Dorman in my mind. Really good passer with good touch and great vision, and he makes the same kind of off-the-ball runs that Dorman was famous for.
Now, the bad news. Videira’s injury history raises all kinds of red flags. This has to be the reason he never got a serious look at Hamilton Academical. At various times throughout his collegiate and brief professional history, he’s missed games due to injuries to his hamstrings, hip, quad, and ankle.
All things considered, a positive move from the Revs. Videira’s talent is worth the injury gamble.
