Revs “Announce” Roster Changes

Posted by Mike Marshall on January 6, 2009

The Revolution yesterday took the unusual step of announcing changes to their roster… via a blog entry.  Only, they didn’t really announce it, only that there had been changes and then let their blog readers figure it out.

Are you bleepin’ kidding me?  And people wonder why there’s no offseason media coverage.

There was an official announcement, but it was buried between a recap of the Adam Cristman trade and a reminder that the team will play in SuperLiga again next year.  I’m not even kidding.

Looking for work are Sam Brill, Joe Germanese, Gary Flood, Brandon Tyler, and Brandon Manzonelli.

Also notable that Argenis Fernandez is apparently back.  That brings us to 20 players on the current roster – room for four more.  How they’ll fit seven draft picks into four spots is anyone’s guess.

In other news, 30 players who have absolutely zero chance of making the team participated in what was likely a sham of a tryout.

Not surprising. Sad, but not surprising. The team has yet to figure out that there’s more to sports than what happens on the field. Add to that the “inertia” policy of management they’ve followed since about 2000 and you end up with that joke of a post.

I think we can safely assume there will be foreign signings this year.

Woah woah woah…before you say there’s zero chance of those thirty guys making it, I think you might want to remember a certain Chris Tierney. He’s still a part of the twenty-man team, and he was added to the Supplemental Draft after impressing the coaching staff at the very same tryouts you dismiss so quickly

Tierney was added back when the Revs have a 10-player Developmental Roster. Things are very different these days.

Wait a minute…there’s a pro soccer team that plays at Gillette??? WTF??? How long has this been going on?
