From the halls of Foxboro Stadium…

Albright on the Move?

Posted by Mike Marshall on January 11, 2010

I’d consider this to be very encouraging, should it come to pass.  From Soccer America:

New England declined the option on defender Chris Albright‘s contract and may trade him to Philadelphia, his birthplace. Albright played just one game last year before suffering a torn left lateral meniscus that kept him out of league action the rest of the season. He earned $176,000 in 2009.

Kevin Alston, selected 10th overall out of Indiana University in last year’s draft, moved into Albright’s right-back position and his excellent play stamped him as one of the league’s best signings ($55,000 base salary, and guaranteed compensation of $104,000, including a Generation adidas bonus).

And, Soccer America isn’t the only one who thinks this will happen.  Check out Kyle McCarthy’s post on Twitter:

So you want some Albright news? Revs did decline his option. Multiple teams interested in his services. Big pay cut looming.

Can’t keep a guy like Albright around when you have a better option in Kevin Alston.

Great. Now the most experienced back is none other than Emmanuel Osei.

It’s going to be a looooong season, fellas.

Can’t keep both Alston and Albright, IMO.
