Twellman to Retire?

Posted by Mike Marshall on October 3, 2010

Tucked away neatly in an otherwise euphoric article about how the Revs may pursue multiple Designated Players this winter is this little bombshell from ESPNBoston.com’s Gus Martins:

A big part of the team’s woes has been playing the season without all-time leading scorer Taylor Twellman who is suffering from post-concussion syndrome and will likely retire at the end of the season.

Yikes.  If this is true, I can’t say I’m surprised, but it’s still a bit jarring.

Wonder if TNT will end up tweeting about this.  Hmmm…

Even More Reason to be Happy the CBA is Done

Posted by Mike Marshall on March 26, 2010

From MLS “Insider” Bob Hunter of the Columbus Dispatch:

A source with knowledge of contract negotiations between Major League Soccer and its players said he was told that if players had gone on strike, the league would have considered shutting down a minimum of two teams, at least temporarily. Among those mentioned were New England and Columbus, though it is unclear why they were cited.

My gut reaction is that Bob Hunter is full of crap.
